We appreciate that so many students travel to join us for programs. It is important to know that Heartwood is not a large retreat facility featuring multiple programs at once or corporate-sized events. We are an intimate facility focused on training one small group at a time, and while our property is inspirational and offers many great areas to enhance your educational experience, we are limited regarding housing options. We have two current options for accommodations on site and will provide information here about alternate housing arrangements nearby so everyone joining us from out of town can find a situation that works for them.
Heartwood Housing is usually only available for certification programs that are one week or longer. For short programs or for visitors who are not enrolled in a longer-term formal certification program, please see our nearby hotels or local Air B & B's. Students must book for the full duration of the program to reserve a room or bed in any Heartwood housing.
Once you have chosen your accommodations, we must turn to others away that would like to stay with us. Therefore, we cannot cancel or change your reservation without a minimum of 4 weeks' notice. Our housing is available on a first come first serve basis. If you are attending your training with a friend and would like to house together, you need to make those arrangements with us ahead of time, at the time of booking your housing arrangements.
Rules: All Heartwood housing is considered an extension of the institute and therefore subject to our property rules and guidelines which include no smoking, alcohol, excessive noise, or activity. We strive to keep the atmosphere quiet, and reflective and designed to enhance the yoga experience as per classic yoga experiences. Heartwood programs are not classified as "retreats to relax and have fun" but are better described as "educational programs designed to inspire and expand the mind and soul." In most cases, students will spend the bulk of their time in the educational program, and when they are released, spend their time studying, processing, recharging, and resting for the next day's material. Those wishing to listen to music would want to bring headphones and phone conversations should be held outside of shared sleeping spaces, allowing everyone their private energetic space. We feel it is important to design housing situations that invite students to retreat within - an important factor in authentic yoga studies.
Supplies: Our dorms are equipped with sheets, blankets and pillows, pillow top mattresses, and each student is assigned his her color of towels so they know which ones are theirs. All rooms at Heartwood are air-conditioned. Bathrooms have a hairdryer and are stocked with shampoo, body wash, and conditioner. Laundry facilities are available and we supply detergent and softener sheets.
Food: Breakfast for those staying on site is continental self-serve as many students do not wish to eat early before practice and will partake in morning nourishment during a break after physical yoga. Lunch and Dinner are served on schedule at Heartwood during our program hours. All food is vegetarian with vegan & gluten-free options. We serve some wonderful meals and always have snacks and leftovers at the ready (and a bit of chocolate and coffee for those needing an afternoon boost to stay focused) so no worries about going hungry or not feeling nurtured regarding meals. We know that feeding you well is a part of keeping your energy (and your mood) up.
Space: Students staying on-site typically use the dorms only for sleeping concerning individual needs for rest. The yoga center and the student kitchen are open all evening as well as the library and art center. Students have many choices of places to go for privacy, to reflect, practice what they are learning, have a private phone call, a conversation, or alone time. The property includes a labyrinth to walk, a meditation gazebo, an art room, a library, a yoga kitchen, a studio, a chakra garden, and covered practice areas outside which are all open and available to our guests after class hours.
Once you have chosen your accommodations and paid your housing fee, there are no refunds or changing your reservation. Our accommodations are affordable, lovely limited, and available on a first come first serve basis.
Quad Dorms: Dorms are only available to those staying for a week-long program or longer. Dorms are on-site. We have two dorms that house 4 or 5 people in a spacious room with a shared large bathroom. The fee is 25.00 per night, plus tax.
One dorm features two stable bunk beds with full-size beds, each with a light for reading. The other spacious room features four single beds each with privacy curtains for sleeping. Each dorm shares a large bathroom and there is storage for clothing and luggage. When staying in the dorms, students have access to the yoga center, studio kitchen, library, and grounds, providing students with spaces to study, interact with each other, make a private phone call, or just "be". The Heartwood dorms are very comfortable, spacious, and clean with comfortable beds with pillow-top mattresses, good lighting, and beautiful bathroom facilities. Each student is assigned a bed with sheets, blankets, and pillows as well as towels and washcloths for their visit. Students have access to laundry facilities. Each shower is stocked with shampoo, body wash, and cream rinse as well.
Double
Heartwood also has a double room featuring two full-size beds each with privacy curtains. The room has a bathroom shared by the two residents in this room. This housing is 40.00 a night, plus tax. This option fills fast and often is not available when registering later.
Singles
At this time, Heartwood does not have single rooms with a private bath. We do have some Air B & B options nearby which we recommend for students who feel it is necessary to have private housing. Our accommodations are usually comfortable for all, but please call to learn more about single options if this is important to you.
To avoid potential discomfort or concerns, our dorms are not co-ed. Males who enroll in our programs are provided with alternate accommodations. Please call us to learn more if you have any questions.

Heartwood also has some warm-hearted graduates who live nearby and offer rooms in their houses for an affordable rate. If you wish to get a private bedroom with a bath in a home only a few miles from Heartwood, we are happy to connect you to these individuals to see about availability. Better than an Air B & B since we can vouch for the host, these arrangements are often much appreciated by our students. You will need a car for transportation to and from this housing option.
