The Heartwood RYS-300 certification is a comprehensive 300-hour advanced yoga education program for yoga teachers who have already received their RYT-200 certification and are now looking to dive deeper into yoga theory and philosophy as well as refine their communication and information base to enhance their teaching skills. Completion of this program combined with the RYT-200 and teaching experience will make a teacher an RYT-500 once registered with Yoga Alliance.
The program is geared to helping yoga professionals learn to make a viable career in health and wellness with courses to deeply explore yoga specialties along with one-on-one mentoring to guide them in presenting workshops, retreats and specialty classes. This coursework expands the skill set for yoga teachers preparing them to authentically teach a variety of specialty classes with 7 required core courses, an online Anatomy course, and a choice of elective courses to support career goals. This yoga teacher training program is offered in a 21-day immersion format with an online anatomy required course, or a modular format where students can begin the coursework anytime joining us on weekends or weekdays and can finish in a matter of months with accelerated participation, in which case students can take up to three years to complete the course work.
Heartwood also has a dynamic fully online RYS-300, as well as a hybrid program where students do online work with a mentor and also join us for an 8 day in person immersion (the best of both worlds) and great for those who can't manage to leave home for 3 weeks yet desire a comprehensive live training experience.
For students interested in the IAYT Accredited 800-hour yoga therapy certification, the RYS 300 hours coursework also serves as foundational material that can be applied to formal IAYT Yoga Therapy certification. As one of only 66 accredited Yoga Therapy facilities worldwide, Heartwood provides powerful educational foundation for those hoping to pursue a career in yoga healing arts. (Check out our Yoga therapy page to learn more.)
The RYS-300 modular program invites students to complete their studies as per their own timeline. Students can take a daytime format, weekend modules and/or portions of the immersions until the required coursework is complete. Students have up to 3 years to complete the work.
We offer weekend and two day modular courses, as well as a daytime RYS-300 Modular course for local students ages 50 plus.
Twice a year, summer and winter, Heartwood offers a 22 day immersion program encompassing all the material required for certification. The program convenes 8:30am-7:30pm daily, and has an advanced anatomy unit online to be finished at your convenience.
For a limited time, due to Covid-19, Yoga Alliance has sanctioned online yoga programs that meet the educational criteria to assure a progressive and comprehensive learning experience. Heartwood is now offering the full 300-hour curriculum online .
This program offers a dynamic live 8 day training experience combined with comprehensive, intimate online training portion to provide a comprehensive, inspirational yoga education. For those who can't get away for a full three weeks, but long for the connection and learning benefits of an in person training experience, this hybrid program offers the best of both worlds.

We get students with years of teaching experience and students who just graduated from their 200-hour foundational course and the Heartwood 300 is appropriate for all who are ready and willing to continue learning and growing. We provide opportunity within the course for everyone to teach and receive feedback from both mentors and fellow students to support the development of teaching skills. Wat is important is that we support and help each student move to the next level as a yoga teacher.
We understand that all 200-hour programs are different, and some are more comprehensive than others. We teach what our students need to learn to become more qualified advanced teachers. If this means reviewing some foundational knowledge, we make provisions to do so. We have much to cover but always build on what the attendees know. What counts is that you come open to new knowledge, with right intention, ready to learn, grow and become a more educated, informed yoga teacher. For more information check out our free one-hour course called Everything a person needs to know about YTT before signing up anywhere, here.
When you graduate from our course you will be a 500-hour certified yoga teacher with a YA approved school. In order to register with Yoga Alliance, the organization also requires 100 hours of teaching after you graduate. Learn more at RYT 500 | Yoga Alliance
Yoga Alliance doesn't allow you to "double dip" meaning that as you receive certification for Yin, Restorative and Chair in this program, these hours cannot be used again as CEU's. You will learn these specialty skills and be certified in these subjects, but the hours will be applied toward your RYT500 training which is what you will register with YA. You will not need aditional CEU's after taking this course for at least 2 years.
As one of only 68 IAYT accredited schools in the world, Heartwood has registered this 300-hour program with both Yoga Alliance and the International Association of Yoga Therapy. You can take the 300 course and become an RYT-500, but also can apply the same hours to your formal IAYT 800 hour Yoga Therapy Certification if you choose to continue on and pursue a career in Yoga Therapy.
