This course covers the common affects of trauma and mental disturbances that often lead to addiction issues, including substance abuse, gambling, shopping, sex, or any other excessive behavior that makes it impossible to live a balanced life. Yoga for Addiction and Recovery explores the definition of addiction, symptoms, causes and common paths to recovery sets the foundation of understanding for how yoga can be applied as a healing modality independently or adjacent to other recovery programs. Yoga practices, sutra studies, physical, mental, & spiritual practices are explored as they pertain to recovery beginning with the physical and moving on to the koshic & spiritual levels. This course includes the science of addiction, yoga philosophy, practices and theory. This course is a part of the Heartwood IAYT accredited 800 hour yoga therapy program.
