As the world moves more and more towards virtual learning, online training seems a logical choice, especially for those who can’t join us in person yet still want to study the Heartwood curriculum. Yoga teacher training is our specialty and we have created a 200 hour comprehensive online yoga teacher training course designed to expand an aspiring yoga teacher's awareness, set a foundation for learning, and cover the basics of yoga teacher training in a comprehensive way.
The Heartwood online course may be all you need to continue your yoga career or to deepen your own practice, and many students are content with this thorough training experience thanks to the amount of information gained from this well-structured online content. That said, we don't want people to choose an online program for convenience or cost efficiency only to find later that learning to teach yoga is difficult for them without having bodies to practice on and a tribe to grow with. Our program is designed so that if a student decides later that the online educational format didn’t provide the hands on practice they need to feel competent, confident, up to 499.00 of online tuition can be credited to any of our in person RYS-200 courses, alleviating any risk of investing in an online program that doesn't meet your long term expectations or goals, (which often change as one's relationship with yoga deepens or a career takes shape.)
Check out what is included below and peruse the links to sample videos of our teaching style to determine if Heartwood's Online course is a good fit for you and your goals.

Yoga Alliance has never recognize exclusively online programs because yoga training is meant to be experiential to gain true comprehension of the teachings. Without the opportunity to work with different body types, practice adjustments or modifications under the watchful eye of a seasoned instructor, engage in lively discussions to contemplate the deeper meaning of the philosophy, or having access to live bodies to practice skills, then a distance yoga education is merely an academic pursuit and does not prepare an aspiring teacher for practical application. During the Coronavirus pandemic, Yoga Alliance has allowed registered schools to finish or continue YTT programs online so there would be no disruption in programs . All work is required to to be finished by Sept 30, after which the mandatory "in person" training rules apply once again (unless they do another extension of this temporary provision). Online yoga may be a very valid and helpful learning format for many people, but please note that all work must be completed by Sept 30, 2020 for an RYT-200 certification and this provision is temporary. For more information on Yoga Alliance and their rules regarding online training, we recommend potential students contact Yoga Alliance directly to clarify the facts as they make a decision on their yoga education.
